Building a Scalable File Transfer Solution for Government and Corporate Clients
problem
The client faced limitations with their existing solution, "WeTransfer" tailored for government institutions, law firms, and other businesses. Challenges included restrictions in supported file size, security concerns, and insufficient features for larger clients. Moreover, the solution was part of a broader platform, prompting the client's desire to create a standalone product catering to both small and large clients. The overarching goal was to implement an additional business model that would facilitate sustained growth.

Moreover, the solution was part of a broader platform, prompting the client's desire to create a standalone product catering to both small and large clients. The overarching goal was to implement an additional business model that would facilitate sustained growth.
solution
To address the client's needs, we proposed initiating a Proof of Concept (PoC) to validate the new stack's capacity for handling larger files. Subsequently, we swiftly transitioned to building a fully operational Minimum Viable Product (MVP). This strategic approach allowed the client to promptly onboard new customers, collect valuable user feedback for feature validation, and, crucially, establish a new revenue stream. The initial team, comprising a Product Owner and Tech Lead, successfully developed the PoC. During this phase, the Product Owner meticulously examined client requirements, refining them to the essential for the MVP. The team expanded to include a Designer and additional developers for the subsequent MVP development.

results
The execution of the PoC proved successful, laying the foundation for further development. The Product Owner's critical questioning streamlined the MVP requirements to their absolute essentials. As a result, the team, now reinforced, delivered an MVP that generated revenue for the client. Subsequently, we continued enhancing the product, introducing features tailored for corporate clients, such as centralized user management, department administration, advanced security settings, and MS Teams integration. Simultaneously, individual clients benefited from features like self-signup and both free and paid account options. Throughout this journey, we maintained a LEAN approach, ensuring rapid results while minimizing unnecessary waste in our development processes.
